Grants
Support on making your home more energy efficient

'Warm Front' grant
(a government scheme)
Warm front' is a government scheme that's encouraging people on low incomes to cut their fuel bills and enjoy a warmer home. If you're getting benefit (like housing benefit, income support, working families tax credit, or a disability benefit) you may qualify for a big cash grant to pay for energy-efficiency work like loft insulation, draught-proofing and better heating controls. You can get up to £1,500 if you're under 60, and up to £2,500 if you're over 60. For more information phone 0800 3166011. Or apply online at: eaga.co.uk (click on 'Apply for a Grant').

'Warm Homes' grant
(run by the City Council)
Get some or all of the cost of energy efficiency work like loft and wall insulation, draught-proofing and low-energy light bulbs. At the moment grants are mostly targeted at people living in Northenden and Blackley. But there is some money available for other parts of the city too.
If you are over 60 your grant will pay for all this work.
If you are under 60 and not getting benefits, your grant will cover half the cost of the work.
If you are under 60 and getting certain benefits we will help you apply for a 'Warm Front' grant instead (see above).
There is a limited amount of money for grants like this, so it's first-come-first-served. For more information phone 0800 512012 (freephone).

'Home Energy Loan Plan' (HELP)
(an interest free loan)
Get an interest-free loan to pay for energy-efficiency work like a new heating system, double-glazing, draught-proofing, and loft and wall insulation. You don't need to 'qualify' for this loan - it's open to any homeowner living in Manchester. For more information contact Manchester Care & Repair on 0161 872 5500.
